Abstract
► We have tested the antioxidant capacity of a series of phenolic acids and natural antioxidants successfully by utilizing the gold nanoshells precursor composites. ► The wavelength-based detection optical method shows superiority in evaluating colour samples which will avoid background interference. ► The assay provides an alternative perspective for the innovative detection scheme in combination with nanoscience and food/health industry.
