Abstract
⺠Nucleoids of Deinococcus radiodurans and Deinococcus deserti have been isolated. ⺠Comparative proteomics pointed at HU as being the main protein involved in nucleoid organization. ⺠Immunofluorescence microscopy confirmed that HU and DNA gyrase are key players. ⺠Radiotolerant Deinococcus bacteria contain a very low diversity of nucleoid-associated proteins.
