Abstract
As the number of potential biomarkers for diseases continues to increase, it is becoming imperative to develop high-throughput technologies for quantitating their absolute abundance in clinical samples. This article describes the basic concepts and developments in using multiple-reaction monitoring mass spectrometry in combination with isotope-labeled internal standards for establishing the veracity of these potential biomarkers.50
