Abstract
► 2D-DIGE was used to analyze the proteome of “gill-bacteria complex” in B. azoricus. ► Differentially expressed proteins were identified in mussels from 3 distinct vent sites. ► Identified proteins reflect adaptation mechanisms of B. azoricus to extreme environments. ► Symbiotic bacteria also plays an important role in the resistance to toxic compounds.
