Abstract
⺠More than 200 scorpion venom peptides and proteins were identified by transcriptome analysis, expanding venom composition. ⺠These toxic compositions were categorized into 15 types, including two novel types, opening new avenues for drug discovery. ⺠Multiple toxin types were continuously recruited into the venom proteome during the evolution process of scorpion lineages. ⺠Proteome evolution of the scorpion venom arsenal was firstly clarified by comparative transcriptome and molecular phylogeny.
