Abstract
Several evidences suggest that trace elements, e.g., iron, copper, zinc, selenium, chromium, cadmium, mercury and lead may influence membrane fluidity. The interaction of heavy metals with cellular membranes may contribute to explain, at least partially, the toxicity associated with these metals.
