Abstract
The complexes of MBr2L2 (M: Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II); L: p-methylaniline) were prepared and characterized by their elemental analyses, thermal analyses, IR spectra and Raman spectra. The observed IR and Raman bands of the complexes were assigned. Coordination effects on internal modes of p-methylaniline were discussed. FT-IR and FT-Raman spectra show that Zn(II) complex possess a tetrahedral environment around metal ion with C2v symmetry, whereas Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes have 5-coordinate polymeric bromide bridged structures around metal ions.
