Abstract
Reported is the ligand exchange reaction of [Et4N][Re2(CO)6(OR)3] with benzoic acid, fumaric acid and terephthalic acid. Selective exchange can be obtained for benzoic acid resulting in 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 products. Fumaric and terephthalic acid react to link two of the dirhenium centers. X-ray crystal structure determinations of these derivatives have been obtained.
