Abstract
Four complexes of AgCN with alkanediamine ligands, in N,Nâ²-bis(ethane-1,2-diamine)cyanosilver(I) (1), N,Nâ²-bis(propane-1,2-diamine)cyanosilver(I) (2), μ-(propane-1,3-diamine)di[cyanosilver(I)] (3) and μ-(butane-1,4-diamine)di[cyanosilver(I)] (4), have been synthesised and structurally characterised. In these species, alkanediamine ligands act both as chelating (1 and 2) and bridging ligands (3 and 4). The different stoichiometries in the products have been obtained by varying preparation methods, solvents and AgCN to alkanediamine ratios.
