Abstract
The bulky germanium amide BrGe[N(SiMe3)2]3 has structurally characterized and has been converted to the alkylgermanium species [(Me3Si)2N]3Ge(CH2CH2CH2CH3), but was not useful for the preparation of the germyllithium reagent LiGe[N(SiMe3)2]3. This germyllithium species can be prepared from GeI2 and LiN(SiMe3)2, and has subsequently been used for the synthesis of [Li(μ2-OC6H3Ph2-2,6)3Ge].
