Abstract
⺠A novel heterocyclic NO donor Schiff base 4-isopropylbenzaldehyde[N-(3-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2-quinoxalinyl)hydrazone] (Ipbh) has been synthesized. ⺠A series of Ni(II) complexes of Ipbh has been synthesized where Ipbh acts as a bidentate ligand coordinating through the imine nitrogen and quinoxaline oxygen. ⺠The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of Ipbh and the Ni(II) complex [Ni(Ipbh)2·(CH3OH)2](NO3)2·(CH3OH)2 (4) reveals that both crystallize in the monoclinic P21/c space group giving rise to 1D and 2D architecture, respectively.
