Abstract
⺠The four step syntheses of a new N6 donor set ligand, dimpyen is devised. ⺠The reaction with Fe(II) gives off a novelheptacoordinated iron(III) complex. ⺠Magnetic studiesconfirm a high-spin iron (III) species in all the temperature range considered. ⺠Cyclic voltammetry confirm a reversible system Fe(III) species, with a very low redox potential. ⺠The change of the metal ion oxidation state can be explained in terms of the redox properties of the system.
