Cyanato bridged binuclear nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes with pyridylpyrazole ligand: Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties

► Two new pyridylpyrazole containing complexes [M(NCO)(L)]2(PF6)2, where M = Ni(II) (1) and Cu(II) (2) have been reported. ► Coordination mode of cyanate ligand is end-to-end for complex 1 whereas it is end-on for complex 2. ► Magnetic susceptibility data (2-300 K) show weak antiferromagnetic interaction (J = −6.2 cm−1) for complex 1. ► Complex 2 has very weak ferromagnetic interaction (J = +0.5 cm−1). ► Weak antiferromagnetic property of complex 1 has been explained by MO calculations.
