Abstract
⺠CpRuCl complexes catalyze cyclotrimerization of alkynes. ⺠Metallacyclopentatriene form from coupling of two alkynes. ⺠A bicyclic biscarbene complex controls the stereochemistry of cyclotrimerization. ⺠The reaction is exergonic and has low activation barriers according to DFT studies.
