Synthesis and transition metal complexes of 3,3-bis(1-vinylimidazol-2-yl)propionic acid, a new N,N,O ligand suitable for copolymerisation

► A new N,N,O heteroscorpionate ligand was developed with polymerisation-active vinyl groups. ► κ3-N,N,O is represented in the complexes [Re(bvip)(CO)3], [Mn(bvip)(CO)3], and [Cu(bvip)2]. ► The ligand was incorporated into two different polymers. ► The fragments [Re(CO)3]+ and [Mn(CO)3]+ as well as Cu(II) were embedded into these polymers.
