Abstract
ⶠTrifluoromethionine is a promising lead for amebiasis. ⶠTrifluoromethionine is a probe to elucidate the biochemistry of methionine residues in proteins. ⶠTrifluoromethionine is synthesized by direct reductive trifluoromethylation of homocystine. ⶠThis method is robust and can be perform at a large scale. ⶠThis is the first example of reductive fluoroalkylation of disulfides under the Birch condition.
