Abstract
A novel type of hybrid ionic surfactants containing oxyethylene chain and a fluorocarbon chain in a molecule, n-C8F17SO3âN+(C2H5)3(CH2CH2O)nH (n = 4.0, 4.1, 8.7, 13.2, 17.8, 22.3), were prepared. The evaluation of their behavior at the air-water interface has been studied from measurements of surface tension versus variation of concentration, and the properties of the hybrid surfactants are different from the empirical rule observed for the fluorinated nonionic surfactant.
