Abstract
Solid-state structure, thermal properties, and condensation reaction of (triphenylmethyl)silanetriol [1, Ph3Si(OH)3] have been studied. The single crystal of [1 · acetone] for X-ray diffraction was grown as colorless from a concentrated acetone solution. The solid structure of [1 · acetone] was disclosed to be one-dimensional polymeric tube in head to head hydogen-bonding fashion. Compound 1 underwent condensation reactions with DCC and with Me3SiCl to give polysiloxanes and silyated compounds [Ph3Si(OH)3ân(OSiMe3)n], respectively.
