												► Recent appraisals of High Speed Rail in Britain have produced Benefit Cost Ratios in excess of one. ► Benefits are largely due to travel time savings. ► Infrastructure costs are high in Britain. ► The environmental and wider economic impacts of HSR are relatively small. ► Alternative investments in existing networks may provide better value for money.
