Abstract
⺠Sol-gel processes have been applied to cotton fabrics. ⺠Novel oxidic phases acting as smoke suppressants for cotton have been synthesized. ⺠Cone calorimetry turned out to be a useful instrumentation to assess the smoke release. ⺠Joint effects between silica phase and smoke suppressants have been observed.
