Abstract
⺠Chemical sulfation of polysaccharides may result in molecules having antithrombotic effect. ⺠Citrus pectin (CP) is a widely available polysaccharide in nature. ⺠Sulfated polysaccharides based on CP have anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects. ⺠Sulfated polysaccharides based on CP inhibit α-thrombin in a serpin-dependent way. ⺠Sulfation pattern affect the anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects.
