Abstract
⺠The impact of plant cell wall polysaccharides was studied using a novel spherical bacterial cellulose system. ⺠The influence on morphology on both the nanometer and millimeter scales was showed using this system. ⺠Xyloglucan and pectin had the biggest impact on cellulose assembly as the cellulose network was denser. ⺠It is first demonstrated that pectin could stimulate the growth of cellulose. ⺠When cultured in both xyloglucan and pectin, xyloglucan determined the crystal structure of cellulose.
