Abstract
⺠Interest for microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) is exponentially increasing. ⺠Nano-scale dimensions and ability to form a strong entangled nanoporous network. ⺠New sources, new mechanical processes, new pre- and post-treatments induce new types of MFC materials for industrialization. ⺠Focus on the barrier properties of MFC used as films, in nanocomposites or in paper coating is then proposed.
