Abstract
⺠Regenerated cellulose fibres bind calcium ions through cation exchange. ⺠The capacity of calcium binding is limited by the carboxylic group number. ⺠A calcium:carboxylic group stoichiometry of 1:1 is observed. ⺠For reasons of charge neutrality hydrogen carbonate is supposed to be bound.
