Abstract
⺠The study models the pH dependant swelling in chitosan polyelectrolyte hydrogels. ⺠Swelling contributions from mixing, elastic and ionic forces were considered. ⺠The information awarded by the model is valuable for the design of targeted drug delivery systems.
