Abstract
⺠We examined the modes of action of chitosan on P. aeruginosa and S. aureus. ⺠Chitosan resulted in leakage of cell inclusions (enzymes, DNA, proteins and ions). ⺠Chitosan increased the membrane permeability by adhering to cell membranes. ⺠TEM verified that S. aureus is more sensitive than P. aeruginosa to chitosan.
