Abstract
► We examine the yield of nanocrystalline cellulose from the cotton pulp fiber. ► Longer time, higher acid concentration and temperature all can promote the reaction. ► Sulfuric acid concentration has the greatest impact on the yield of NCC. ► Reaction time and temperature have little effect on the yield of NCC. ► The stable NCC suspension was successfully prepared with a yield of more than 60%.
