Abstract
⺠Layer by Layer (LbL) assembly has been employed to prepare ammonium polyphosphate-based coatings. ⺠Polyester-cotton fabrics have been treated through LbL to enhance their flame retardancy properties. ⺠Chitosan and silica have been coupled with ammonium polyphosphate as flame retardant systems. ⺠Such coatings have been able to suppress the afterglow phenomenon of the blend during combustion.
