Abstract
⺠Multifunctional nanocomposite films for packaging were developed by melt compounding. ⺠Cellulose nanocrystals and silver nanoparticles were dispersed in polylactic acid. ⺠Nanocrystal (CNC) surfactant modification favours cellulose dispersion in the PLA. ⺠CNC combined with silver nanoparticles enhance PLA thermal and mechanical response. ⺠Silver based nanocomposites show an antibacterial effect on S. aureus and E. coli.
