Abstract
⺠Injection of hyaluronan in damaged joints normalizes endogenous hyaluronan synthesis. ⺠Synergic performances of chitosan + hyaluronan lead to hyaline cartilage generation. ⺠Chitosan cryogels help chondrocytes propagate and assume the convenient phenotype. ⺠Chitosan favors typical ECM, collagen-II and GAG formation in the new cartilage. ⺠Chitosan induces the chondrogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells.
