Abstract
⺠Production of aldehyde-functionalized chitosan in the solid state with nitrogen oxide gas. ⺠Superior to existing methods due to higher yields and limited depolymerization. ⺠Schiff's base reaction between aldehyde and amine groups in modified chitosans. ⺠Formation of gels by self cross-linkage without any external agents.
