Abstract
► Paper tube residual was investigated as a potential raw material for ethanol production. ► The chemical compositions of paper tube residuals were determined. ► The effects of two pretreatment methods on the enzymatic hydrolysis and SSF were studied. ► Pretreatment with concentrate phosphoric acid was found as an appropriate method for maximum ethanol production. ► Under optimal condition, 308 ml ethanol per kg paper tube could be produced.
