Abstract
A novel specific optical chemical sensor (optode) for determination of mercury(II) ions is developed in a plasticized PVC membrane. The sensor has a linear response to Hg(II) in the range of 4.7 Ã 10â 4-7.2 Ã 10â 13 mol Lâ 1 with a detection limit of 1.85 Ã 10â 13 mol Lâ 1. The optical sensor was successfully applied to the determination of Hg(II) in real samples.
