Abstract
⺠The corrosion resistance of Nitinol can be improved by thermal treatment - boiling in water and oxidation in air. ⺠The degree of improvement of corrosion resistance is dependent on the surface preparation. ⺠For ground samples, boiling in water and thermal treatments up to 400 °C are beneficial. ⺠For T < 500 °C, surface preparation determines the thickness of the oxide layer formed by thermal oxidation.
