Abstract
► The corrosion resistance of Nitinol can be improved by thermal treatment - boiling in water and oxidation in air. ► The degree of improvement of corrosion resistance is dependent on the surface preparation. ► For ground samples, boiling in water and thermal treatments up to 400 °C are beneficial. ► For T < 500 °C, surface preparation determines the thickness of the oxide layer formed by thermal oxidation.
