Abstract
⺠Design and synthesis of metallomesogenic diols. ⺠Metallomesogenic polyurethanes were prepared using these diols as chain extenders. ⺠Liquid crystalline and mechanical properties were studied. ⺠A square pyramidal structure for the copper(II) complexes have been proposed. ⺠Polyurethanes exhibited enantiotropic smectic A phases.
