Abstract
The itinerancy of Ï electrons in DNA molecules is relative to their structures and configurations due to the softness of this kind of material. In the frame work of the tight binding model, we studied the effect of concentration of Ï electrons on the band structure and the electronic density of states of a DNA chain. It was found that the band gap at the Fermi level depends sensitively upon the number of itinerant electrons. Its effect on the conductance of DNA molecule in different orders of duplex pairs with possible combinations was discussed.
