Abstract
The Nd0.7Ca0.15Sr0.15MnO3 (NCSMO) compound have been prepared by ball milling method during 4 h. The structural study showed that our synthesized compound is single phase and crystallize in the orthorhombic system with Pnma space group. Based on a phenomenological model, magnetocaloric properties of NCSMO compound have been studied. According to this model, we have calculated the values of the magnetic entropy change, the full width at half-maximum, the relative cooling power and the magnetic specific heat change for our compound. The maximum magnetic entropy change (âÎSMmax), the relative cooling power (RCP) and the refrigerant capacity (RC) are found to be 3.16 J Kgâ1 Kâ1, 306.08 J Kgâ1 and 258.41 J Kgâ1 for a magnetic field of 5 T respectively. The results indicate that the compound could be considered as a candidate for use in magnetic refrigeration at low temperatures. The present sample shows that a collapse of the magnetic entropy change curves to a master curve, confirms the second order nature of the phase transition.
