Abstract
A procedure for the preparation of nanosized pillar-like BaCO3 based on the aging of barium nitrate aqueous solutions in the presence of lactic acid, sodium carbonate, and polyvinylpyrrolidone. Using X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy, the morphological characteristics of BaCO3 were controlled by altering the molar ratio of lactic acid to barium ion, as well as the initial pH and barium ion concentration. The possible formation mechanism of the nanoparticles was also discussed.
