Abstract
The plasma polymerization for long time encountered many difficulties to reproduce the chemical routes having the advantage to deposit thin and continuous films. Due to high energy of the plasma, pinholes, cross-linking and polymers with low molecular weight have been an impediment to plasma polymerization. The method proposed by the direct injection of the monomer in the plasma bulk under mild condition reduced many of these inconveniences. In particular, it has been proven on pyrrole and pyrrole with ferrocene that continuous and homogeneous polymer films can be deposited similar as with the chemical method for synthesis. The polymeric films were characterized by FT-IR, Raman and AFM. The results show that ferrocene units are embedded between pyrrole units giving a very interesting organic-inorganic copolymer.
