Abstract
As the mercury dithizonate film is illuminated by laser of 535Â nm and 633Â nm, respectively, multiple self-diffraction rings are observed. We conclude that the generation of the rings is mainly due to thermal effect. The self-defocusing and the change of nonlinear refractive index induced by photochromic effect are studied by Z-scan method. Moreover, the optical limiting characteristics of mercury dithizonate film are explored.
