Abstract
► Fine and ultrafine β grains were attained in metastable Ti-16V-3Al-3Sn alloy. ► All tensile curves showed double yielding and low triggering stress (σT). ► The σT decreased, and then increased with increasing grain size from 1.3 to 30 μm. ► The three-stage strain hardening and high strain hardening rate were investigated. ► Tensile samples were fractured ductily and dimple size was proportional to grain size.
