Abstract
The sol-gel combustion synthesis was used to produce nano-crystalline particles of barium hexaferrite. The results revealed that the nitrate citrate gels exhibit a self-propagating behavior after ignition. The decomposition of the gel indicated a gradual transition from an amorphous material to a crystalline phase. High values of coercivity field and saturation magnetization are obtained for sample calcined at 1000 °C.
