Abstract
Multielemental Si3CxOyâ¡zN4-(x+y+z) nanowires and nanoscrews with a diameter of a few tens of nanometers and a length up to a few tens of micrometers have been synthesized for the first time and the possible mechanism for their formation is analyzed in this investigation. The one-dimensional nanomaterial has a β-Si3N4 structure with the long axis along the ã2 1 0ã direction.
