Abstract
The plastic behaviour at room temperature of powder metallurgy magnesium and magnesium composites reinforced with SiC particles was evaluated. Materials exhibit a fiber texture with {0Â 0Â 0Â 1} planes parallel to the extrusion direction. The fiber intensity decreases as the SiC particle volume fraction increases, producing a reduction in the tension/compression asymmetry.
