Abstract
Crystal orientation etching of the rheocasting structure of A356 alloy was carried out. The precise measurement of the grain size of the rheocasting structure showed that longer stirring time correlated with finer grains. It was concluded that secondary nucleation directly led to the grain refinement of the rheocasting structure.
