Abstract
Water vapor does not significantly increase the oxidation rate of Mo-Si-B alloys at 1000 °C. Oxidation in wet air appears to be rate limited by the transport of MoO2 through the external glassy scale. Mo5Si3Bx-based alloys showed significantly increased resistance at 1000 °C to exposures in a simulated oxidizing flue gas.
