Abstract
The influence of K addition on the Fe-containing intermetallic compounds in Fe-rich AA319 Al alloys has been investigated. At 0.5 wt.% Fe level, K modifies the platelet β-Al5FeSi compound into the Chinese script α-Al8Fe2Fi compound. Moreover, K addition modifies the eutectic Si simultaneously.
