Abstract
The ultra-high temperature compressive strengths of [0Â 0Â 1] oriented MoSi2 single crystals are significantly higher than other orientations even at homologous temperatures approaching 0.95. A factor of two increase in the yield strength for [0Â 0Â 1] orientation was observed with only 1 at.% of substitutional alloying with Nb.
