Abstract
The kinetics of diffusion layer growth is considered for the case when the supply of the diffusing component from an external source to the specimen surface is driven by solid solution formation. The growth law is shown to be XS â¼Â t2/3 rather than the classical parabolic behavior (XS â¼Â t1/2).
