Abstract
Monodisperse α-MnS octahedrons from γ-MnS have been synthesized on a large scale by means of a complexing-agent-assisted solution route. The as-prepared α-MnS microcrystals have a uniform octahedral morphology with an edge of 170-200 nm. It was found that suitable additives could induce the polymorph transformation from metastable γ-MnS to stable α-MnS and modify the morphology of the obtained products. The crystalline structure and morphology of the resultant products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM).
